"LIVE TOGETHER"
LIVE TOGETHER. (共に生きる。) をテーマに、ルネ・ラルー監督による1973年制作のアニメ映画「ファン タスティックプラネット」をオマージュして作られたコレクション。
ブランドのコンセプトである「服に纏わる固定概念を考え直し再構築した、 日常でも着ることができるスペ シャルな服」を更に意識し、ジェンダーや肌の色(国籍)、体型を超えたデザインを訴求している。
ファンタスティックプラネットで描かれたドラーグ族とオム族との戦いでは、人種間の対立だけでなく、宗 教と科学の対立、そしてその後の共存も描かれており、現代における人種や思想の対立、ジェンダー差別や ウイルスとの戦いなど、近年の様々な出来事とこの映画のストーリーがリンクしており、「暴力や弾圧では なく、話し合いやアイディア、クリエイティブな発想で共存の方法を見つけることは出来ないだろうか」と いう解決すべき課題を、改めて考えてみようという思いからこの映画をオーマジュするに至った。
生地の選定やデザインの段階からカテゴリーに分けず、夫婦やカップル、親と子、男性と女性など、体型違 いの人同士で同じアイテムを着ることも念頭に置いて制作。生地はデッドストックや1点もの、リサイクル 等、環境に配慮した生地を使用し、今回のコレクションでは前回のファーストコレクションで余った生地も 使用することにより、「自然との共存」という目標にも挑戦している。
A collection with the theme “LIVE TOGETHER.”
This is an homage to the animated film "Fantastic Planet”, produced in 1973 by director René Laloux.
Our design approach is focussed on overcoming the barriers of gender, skin color and body shape, with the concept further explained as "exceptional yet everyday pieces that can be worn in daily life, while rethinking and reconstructing the stereotypes associated with clothing."
The battle between the Drag and Om tribes depicted in the “Fantastic Planet” film depicts not only racial conflicts, but also conflicts of religion and science. Nevertheless, the tribes found a way to live together in this story. In modern times, the fight against gender discrimination, as well as the fight against Covid-19, alongside many other recent occurrences worldwide, are naturally linked to the story of the film as well.
The reason why we decided to pay homage to this film in this collection is so we can think about it a modern-day context, where our problems can perhaps be solved; "Is there a way to live together with discussions, ideas, or creative ideas, rather than using violence or oppression?”
When creating this collection, we imagined some situations that people (like couples, or a parent and child) can wear the same items without necessarily being divided into categories (like gender or even size). We kept this in mind from the early stages, from selecting fabrics, through to the design and pattern-making.
We are also focused on the goal of “living together with nature" by using environmentally-friendly fabrics such as dead stock, one-of-a-kind or recycled fabrics, as well as using fabric left over from previous collections.
